DJ PRINCESS JULIA
Première fois le: 20/10/2001

Princess Julia - “the face of a goddess” - (Boy George)

The marriage of House Music and High Fashion might have been a long? time coming, but Princess Julia has always been determinedly playing?cupid and has successfully brought them together with her glamorous, infectious style of djing and producing. Having officially taken to the decks at the infamous Daisy Chain her career really developed its own legendary status with her residencies at Queer Nation and the internationally famous Kinky Gerlinky. She began guesting at the legendary Diorama Parties, and Industria, and was getting noticed for her guest appearances on the Kiss FM show "Judge and the Jury" and on “Giving It Up”. This lead to her legendary show on Girls FM, guest slots on Danny Rampling's Radio One and a heap of publicity which drew her to the attention of top fashion designer Antonio Berardi.

He then collaborated with her on three consecutive catwalk shows. The fashion connection didn’t lose the “Princess” her clubbing credentials as she was invited to compile Kinky Trax Vol 4 which was released as a double cd with DJ Sneak. This projected her into the international league with guest appearances throughout Europe and her first forays into the United States.
? More recently Julia has developed her residency at London’s CRASH since it’s inception 3 years ago and has gained her a huge following, leading her to compile the first CRASH compilation “the Original Sound of Underground London” to be released mid April. She showcased the CRASH set at the press launch at Pump during the 2002 Winter Music Conference and she returned for a monthly residency at South Beach’s Level.

Julia is currently producing, songwriting and performing in various dance projects: THE MOST and THE DIRTY MONROES & REPLICANT.

She is also currently working on two new recording projects, embracing the new electronica – The Most (with Luke Howard) and Punk Soundcheck with The Droyd’s John Taylor. Her recent foray into the electroclash styles has led to a new residency at The Cock (one of London’s leading electro night) and a commission from Dead or Alive to re-mix their classic “Spin me Round” adding her own electro feel and effectively reviving the track into a new fresh and energetic dance smash. This new sound has seen her recently headlining at gigs from Russia to Greece and just recently saw the Princess djing in the middle of the catwalk at the Dolce & Gabanna fashion show in Milan. Also recording (with Luke Howard) and performing under the name of “The Most” they have just been signed to a new EP deal, due for release late summer. Unbeleivable, this busy Princess is in the studio with TWO other recording and performing collaborations , the first a 3 girl group called the “Dirty Monroes” and the second a collaboration with the enigmatic and production chameleon Kinky Rowland.
She is currently on tour of Australia double headlining the very first electro tour around the country.
Whilst embracing this new style the Princess still fuses her classic house sets thereby introducing new audiences to this sound usually to rapturous results.
