DJ DAVID JIMENEZ Première fois le: 25/01/2003 David Jimenez was born and raised in Barcelona, Spain with an inborn love of music which he then developed by attending the Conservatoire in Barcelona. After going to one of the areas many “chiringuito” beach parties and raves at the tender age of twelve David picked up his family record collection and began to experiment. Within a year that set of records had developed into a box of latin fireworks and David used his youthful charm and good looks to get himself slots at some of the Barcelona’s most exciting nightspots as well as those fantastic beach parties. After finishing his music degree he relocated to London in 1994 where his love of house music took over that of classical and armed with his box of tricks inspired by the greats: Junior Vasquez, Danny Tenaglia, Francois Kevorkian and the like, he developed his latin-fused uplifting tribal house into a more European style. With an ear on the music and a cheeky charm club owners and promoters couldn’t resist David found himself behind the helm of some of the most happening dj booths in London; Café de Paris, The Gardening Club and the Voodoo Lounge. His style has developed even further into a floor-shaking, big room sound which takes you through funky infusions of tech and tribal, whilst never losing touch with his latin roots. During the summer months he plays regularly in Madrid, Majorca, Ibiza, Oslo and Amsterdam. He has caught the ears of Alexander McQueen who requested his services to supply the grooves at his private parties and catwalk shows. He is currently developing a project in conjunction with the ICA, revolving around the fashion industry and the synergy of this with celebrity worship. David continues to bring the deep, European flavour to dance floors all over the world – even Kym Mazelle decided to use his remix of her ‘Useless’ track for her live shows globally. David Jimenez has proven at a surprisingly quick speed that he is indeed something of a phenomenon on the London scene with a diary full of dates from clubs wanting him to bring his unique sound to their dance floors. He currently holds residencies at Crash – the famous underground club that helped to launch the career of dj Tom Stephan and houses dj luminaries such as Danny Tenaglia, X-Press 2, Francois K and Derrick May. He is also resident at BEYOND and CRASH which are officially now London’s biggest after hours parties, where he is able to develop his sound even further into the early hours and in the process has gather a legion of devoted fans.   |
